The move that set the tone came early: Nicolás Biondo took the Class A Dodge prepared by Guarnaccia Motorsport to the fastest time of the second practice session. The 1m37s411 put him just 91 thousandths ahead of Gastón Rossi, the reigning champion. It was a narrow margin, but a clear signal before qualifying.

Biondo kept Rossi at bay

Leonardo Nowak completed the top three in a Chevrolet, 95 thousandths off the best mark. Oscar Sánchez, Alan Guevara, Emanuel Pérez Bravo, Germán Pietranera, Juan Farabello, Ramiro Dailoff and Fabrizio Maggini completed the top ten.

The picture was similar in Class B. Ronnie Caggiano, sharing a Dodge from José C. Paz Racing with Carli Bava, won both sessions on Saturday and recorded a best lap of 1m41s692. Joaquín Pasquale was second, 235 thousandths behind, while Germán Pietranera, driving a Ford with Roque Caggiano, was third.

  • Class A: Nicolás Biondo led with a 1m37s411.
  • Class B: Ronnie Caggiano topped the times with a 1m41s692.
  • Gastón Rossi was 91 thousandths behind Biondo.
  • Joaquín Pasquale was 235 thousandths behind Caggiano.

We all saw how close the battle was in the opening round. Rossi remained right on Biondo's heels, and Pasquale also showed pace in Class B. Saturday's qualifying, scheduled for 2:07 p.m., could still shuffle the order before the weekend's races.

“There is no room for mistakes in qualifying. The gap between the leaders is small enough for one clean lap to change the picture.”Walter Villagra, Deportes

The weekend fixture now has a clear focus: Biondo and Caggiano need to turn their Saturday speed into poles, while Rossi and Pasquale remain ready to challenge. The action continues in La Plata, with the decisive times about to define the grid.
